Resize listing photos for the MLS

Drop in a folder of listing photos and get JPEGs back at the size your MLS or Zillow wants, with the GPS location stripped out. Add a "Virtually staged" label if you need one. It all runs in your browser, and your photos are never uploaded.

Label

Run your staged photos as their own batch. Some boards ban text on photos, so check yours first.

    Which size to pick

Every MLS sets its own limits, and most allow far more than a listing needs. Two boards we've checked, plus Zillow:

    WhereLimit or adviceSetting here
    CRMLS (Flexmls)Up to 15 MB or 3000 × 2000 px, 75 photosCRMLS maximum, under 15 MB
    Zillow1536 × 1152 px for best qualityZillow
Realcomp (Michigan)Up to 99 photos; no watermarks or text on photosAny size, label off

If your board isn't listed, 2048 pixels on the long side is a safe default. It's sharp on a laptop screen and well under every file limit we've seen.

    What happens to each photo

    1. It's turned the right way up, using the rotation your phone recorded.
    2. It's scaled down in steps, which keeps edges cleaner than one big jump.
    3. It's saved as a JPEG. If you set a file-size limit, the quality steps down until the photo fits, and the size steps down after that.
    4. Camera data stays behind, including GPS coordinates. A seller's home is public once it's listed, but the location data in an interior shot doesn't need to travel with it.

    When to use the label

Boards disagree on where the disclosure goes. Canopy MLS wants it on the image. Realcomp bans text on photos. California's AB 723 wants the statement on or next to the image in any ad, flyers and social posts included. The MLS rules guide goes board by board, and the disclosure generator writes the caption and remarks to go with it.

Real Estate Camera marks staged photos "virtually staged" in the app but doesn't print that on the image. Run those files through here with the label on when your board or your flyer needs it on the photo.

    Questions

What size should MLS photos be?

Each board sets its own limits. CRMLS's Flexmls help page allows photos up to 15 MB or 3000 by 2000 pixels. Zillow suggests 1536 by 1152 pixels for best quality. Look up your board's numbers once, then pick the matching size and file cap here.

    Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The resizing runs in your browser on your own computer or phone. The photos never leave the device and nothing is saved after you close the tab.

    Does resizing remove location data?

Yes. Each JPEG is drawn fresh from the pixels, so the camera's metadata is left behind, including the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken. The photo is turned the right way up first, so nothing comes out sideways.

Can I put "Virtually staged" on the photo itself?

Yes. Turn on the label and it's drawn into the corner you choose. Check your board first: Canopy MLS wants the disclosure on the image, while Realcomp in Michigan bans text on photos. For flyers and social posts in California, AB 723 wants the statement on or next to the image.

Why won't my iPhone photo open?

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, and Chrome and Firefox can't read HEIC. Open this page in Safari, or export the photos as JPEG first and drop those in instead.
